Update on Music Licensing [news]

Music licensing is looking likely to be a MAJOR issue in New Zealand. In Australia the rates proposed to use music (of any form, including the radio. CDs, TV etc) in gyms are over $100,000 for a moderate sized club! FitnessNZ has been working on this on many levels, and this has been communicated to members.

For many years now royalties to broadcast music in any business, including any businesses involved in fitness, have been charged and collected by two organisations (one for the artist, one for the composer). This is both legal, and something that the majority of the clubs have accepted and paid.
