Talk to me if: You enjoy discussing health and fitness ideas and practices. I have a strong passion for athlete strength and conditioning training, and general exercise prescription. Sport specific training is something I really enjoy and I encourage the communication of ideas with other trainers.
About me: A born and bred Aucklander, I have always had a love of sport and fitness. Growing up in this great city, I tried my hand at many sporting codes, eventually narrowing my focus to rugby when I left school. Since then, I have played rugby professionally and travelled the world doing so. Having spent time living in Northland, Portugal and Ireland, I discovered there was no place like home and moved back to Auckland in 2009. My love of sport, combined with my studies led me on the road to the fitness industry and I have never looked back.
Industry experience: I have had experience in managing a gym, being a personal trainer, a fitness coach and a sport coach. I began in the fitness industry as a sports administrator at an Auckland School. I managed the small public fitness centre on site and this provided valuable experience in day-to-day facility management and relationship management with clients and staff. During this time I also co-ordinated sports academies and rugby coaching holiday programmes. I then spent a year with the Northland Rugby team, before beginning personal training. Rugby opportunities then took me to reside in Portugal and Northern Ireland. Recently, I have been a strength and conditioning coach in Belfast, whilst also a professional rugby player. Coaching rugby is a passion I am currently pursuing as it allows me to pass on my experience and knowledge to others in the sport.
Education highlights: My love of fitness and exercise convinced me to complete a Bachelor of Science from the University of Auckland in 2004, majoring in Sport Science. I enjoyed the biomechanics and athlete development aspects of the degree. The chance to assist athletes in their training goals was rewarding and makes the hard work worth it! Currently, I am completing a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration.
